Spaghetti with Meatballs is a well-known Italian-American classic that has become a favorite comfort food around the world. While spaghetti itself is a traditional Italian pasta, the combination of spaghetti and meatballs gained popularity in the United States through Italian immigrants who adapted their culinary traditions using locally available ingredients.

The dish is loved for its hearty combination of tender meatballs, rich tomato sauce, and perfectly cooked strands of spaghetti. The savory meatballs absorb the flavors of the sauce, creating a satisfying meal that is both comforting and flavorful.

Today, Spaghetti with Meatballs is prepared in many variations using chicken, mutton, beef, or even vegetarian meatballs, making it a versatile dish suitable for different preferences. Whether served as a family dinner, a weekend treat, or a special-occasion meal, it remains one of the most iconic pasta dishes worldwide.

Let’s take a quick look at how you can prepare this delicious restaurant-style favorite at home.

Ingredients

For the Spaghetti

  • 1 cup spaghetti

  • ½ cup tomato purée

  • ½ teaspoon finely chopped garlic

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or Shalimar's Soyabean Oil

  • ¼ teaspoon Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder

  • Salt to taste

  • ½ teaspoon oregano

For the Meatballs

  • 1 cup chicken mince

  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • ½ teaspoon finely chopped garlic

  • ¼ teaspoon Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or Shalimar's Sunflower Oil

Method

Prepare the Meatballs

In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken mince, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped garlic, Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Shape the mixture into small meatballs of equal size.

Heat the olive oil or Shalimar's Sunflower Oil in a pan and cook the meatballs over medium heat until golden brown and fully cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.

Prepare the Spaghetti

Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and keep aside.

Heat the olive oil or Shalimar's Soyabean Oil in a pan. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant. Pour in the tomato purée and cook for a few minutes to form a rich sauce.

Season with salt, Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder, and oregano. Stir well and allow the sauce to simmer until slightly thickened.

Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss gently until the pasta is evenly coated.

Transfer the spaghetti to a serving plate and top with the prepared meatballs.

Serve hot and enjoy this hearty Italian-American classic, perfect for family dinners, special occasions, or weekend meals.
