A timeless favorite on the starter menu at traditional Bengali weddings, Wedding-Style Fish Fingers are loved for their irresistible combination of a crispy golden coating and tender, flaky fish. Made with succulent bhetki (barramundi) fillets, these crunchy delights have earned a special place at festive celebrations and family gatherings alike.
What sets the wedding-style version apart is its extra-crispy exterior and perfectly seasoned, juicy interior, delivering a delicious balance of texture and flavor in every bite. Elegant yet easy to enjoy, these fish fingers make an excellent appetizer for parties, celebrations, or special occasions.
Serve them hot with tartar sauce, kasundi (Bengali mustard sauce), or a fresh salad for an authentic restaurant-style experience that brings the taste of a classic Bengali wedding feast to your table.

Ingredients
500 g bhetki (barramundi) fish fillets
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
½ tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt, to taste
½ cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1½ cups breadcrumbs
Shalimar's Soyabean Oil, for deep frying
Method
Cut the bhetki fillets into finger-sized strips of equal thickness.
In a bowl, marinate the fish with the ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder, and salt. Mix well and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Coat each marinated fish strip lightly with the all-purpose flour, ensuring an even layer. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then roll it thoroughly in the breadcrumbs until completely coated.
For an extra-crispy, wedding-style finish, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.
Heat Shalimar's Soyabean Oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat. Fry the fish fingers in batches until they are golden brown, crisp, and cooked through.
Remove and drain on paper towels to remove any excess oil.
Serve hot with kasundi (Bengali mustard sauce), tartar sauce, and a fresh salad for an authentic Bengali wedding-style appetizer that's crisp, flavorful, and perfect for any special occasion.
