Ingredients

  • 250 g paneer, cut into bite-sized cubes

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)

  • 2 tbsp rice flour

  • ½ tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Red Chilli Powder

  • ½ tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Turmeric Powder

  • ½ tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Cumin Powder

  • Salt, to taste

  • Water, as required

  • Shalimar's Sunflower Oil, for deep frying

Method

Cut the paneer into evenly sized cubes and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour, rice flour, Shalimar's Chef Spices Red Chilli Powder, Shalimar's Chef Spices Turmeric Powder, Shalimar's Chef Spices Cumin Powder, and salt. Gradually add water while whisking to prepare a smooth, thick batter.

Dip each paneer cube into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated on all sides.

Heat Shalimar's Sunflower Oil in a deep frying pan or kadai over medium heat. Carefully add the coated paneer cubes and fry in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy.

Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove any excess oil.

Serve hot with tomato ketchup, mint chutney, or kasundi (Bengali mustard sauce) for a deliciously crisp and satisfying snack that's perfect for teatime, rainy days, or festive gatherings.
