Now, you can bring the familiar taste of Kolkata’s favourite restaurant-style Fish Fry straight to your own kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 4 bhetki fillets

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

  • 1 tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Red Chilli Powder

  • ½ tsp Shalimar's Chef Spices Black Pepper Powder

  • Salt, to taste

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)

  • 2 cups breadcrumbs

  • Shalimar's Soyabean Oil, for deep-frying

  • 4 tbsp kasundi

Method

  1. Marinate the bhetki fillets with lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and salt. Set aside for 30 minutes.

  2. Beat the eggs and season with a little salt.

  3. Coat each fish fillet evenly with maida, dip it into the beaten egg, and then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

  4. Heat Shalimar's Soyabean Oil in a deep pan. Fry the fish fillets over medium heat until golden brown and crisp on the outside.

  5. Drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

  6. Serve hot with kasundi and a fresh onion-cucumber salad.
